Multi-Criteria Optimization of Automatic Electro-Spark Deposition TiCrNiVSi0.1 Multi-Principal Element Alloy Coating on TC4 Alloy

In this work, TiCrNiVSi0.1 coatings were prepared on TC4 alloy by CNC-controlled automatic electro-spark deposition (ESD). The TOPSIS-based Taguchi method was applied for multi-criteria optimization of ESD coating quality. Frequency (f), capacitance (c), and electrode moving speed (v) considered process parameters optimizing the quality criteria, which included thickness, coverage, porosity in coating. optimized parametric setting (f = 700 Hz, c 270 μF, v 150 mm/min) obtained. MPEA with a thickness about 70 um, coverage rate almost reaching 100%, as low 1% prepared. wear- burn-resistance functions investigated. wear rates at room temperature 400 °C are one-sixth one-fourth alloy, respectively. A deposited significantly improved burn resistance alloy.
